Preparatory education at West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance. Golden Key National Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma, graduated summa cum laude.

Legal education West Virginia University College of Law, Morgantown, West Virginia receiving a Juris Doctor Degree in 2001. Member of West Virginia Law Review and Marilyn E. Lugar Trial Association. Admitted to practice in North Carolina (inactive) in 2001, South Carolina (inactive) in 2002, and California in 2003.

Ms. Humphrey was formerly an associate at the law firm of Kelly D. Hupp & Associates located in Charlotte, North Carolina, for two years as a transactional real estate attorney.

Ms. Humphrey joined the firm in August, 2003. In the time she has been with the firm, she has become highly skilled in the litigation of complex class actions and appellate practice, winning four writs in 2006, one of which resulted in the published opinion of Hodge v. Superior Court (AON Insurance Services) (2006) 145 Cal.App.4th 278.
