Born Dallas, Texas, September 21, 1959.

Undergraduate education at the University of New Mexico.  B.A. degree in 1984 in Latin American Studies.

Legal education at Pepperdine School of Law, graduating in1987.  Dean's List; National Dean's List; Who's Who Among American Law Students; Moot Court; Third Place – Intra-school Trial Advocacy Tournament; clerking in Civil Procedure and Constitutional Law; Coordinator for the Camp David Gonzalez Project (outreach to teen offenders); Extern to the Public Defender (Santa Monica).

Regents of the University of California (2005) 133 Cal.App.4th 347
